If you are like most people you may not have heard about Miele before. That is totally understandable since the brand awareness for Miele is still below Eureka, Hoover or Bissel. However, being a less-known brand does not mean Miele don't know what they're doing. The Miele All New S4212 Polaris canister vacuum cleaner is one canister vacuum that can eat its competitors alive.
Pros
The Miele S4212 is a compact, lightweight and easy to use vacuum. Those three points are huge pluses compared to some upright vacuums which are bulky, heavy and require good muscle power to push around. Using this vacuum on carpets and bare floors is really a fun experience. And when you're done vacuuming you can easily store it away in small cabinet thanks to its small size.
The suction power is where this canister vacuum really excels. Most of the times you only need to set the power to the lowest setting. Even when using the lowest power setting the Miele S4212 can clean the floor thoroughly and effortlessly. Unless you live in a dumpster, you will most likely never need to use the maximum power (1200 Watts).
Earplugs and portable music players are not required when operating this canister vacuum. You don't need those two to protect your hearing since Miele S4212 is very quiet when used. It may seem unbelievable that a strong vacuum such as this would not produce ear-banging sound but it is the fact. Even when your children or pets are near you when you operate this machine they won't mind the sound.
The other good things about this vacuum are the retractable power cord, telescopic steel wand and functional accessories.
Cons
The only thing that can be said as the negative point for this vacuum is the power cord. The cord is quite short so you may need to buy a separate extension cord if you don't wish to keep switching between power outlets when vacuuming your home.
Conclusion
If you're looking for a lightweight and powerful vacuum cleaner the Miele S4212 Polaris should be in your to-buy list. You may be worried because Miele is a less-known brand but you should learn that performance and reliability are what matter most. You can opt to spend $400 to get a new Miele S4212 Polaris or spend it on an inefficient, loud and overly-priced vacuum from a famous brand.

Miele S168 Vacuum Cleaner Comes with a silent high powered 1000 watt motor making it one of the best available models in the market. Uprights hardly perform on the non- carpeted area and this was another one more reason why people were wary about buying uprights, but this Miele S168 Vacuum Cleaner performs superbly on the non carpeted floors. This is primarily due to its deluxe Rug/Bare Floor Nozzle. This nozzle performs superbly even on carpets of medium thickness.
Miele S168 Vacuum Cleaner is another vacuum cleaner which has an active HEPA filter which can take in small particles even of 0.3 micron size. This feature though has become common in today's' vacuum cleaners and there is nothing new in it. However, HEPA filter got to be commended as it takes care of the odor too.
But do remember these uprights are just additions to your existing canister and they are not a replacement. These vacuum cleaners perform well in cleaning up smaller apartments and yachts. This vacuum also comes with a secondary electrostatic filter. Electrostatic filter is vital in ensuring good quality air and no wonder Miele S168 Vacuum Cleaner has one.
This comes with a standard set of accessories which includes crevice tool and upholstery, all neatly ducked inside a caddy. The designers have taken into consideration the need for lengthy cord and this equipment comes with a 26 ft. power cord making it easier to move around the apartment. A two clip system takes care of the 26 ft. cord when not in use giving you hassle free convenience.
The easy clip which comes with it allows you to alter the entire configuration in less than a minute. The telescopic wand is entirely adjustable and it enables you to vary the heights so that it suits your height making it more convenient.
Miele S168 Vacuum Cleaner comes with a small 2.6 qt. dust bag, even after a short span of time; you need to change it frequently. And unlike other vacuum cleaners this is not fully automatic and it comes with manual suction controls only. There is an indicator when the dust bag is full but the absence of filter changer indicator makes it somewhat lousy.
Miele S168 Vacuum Cleaner may have its own shortcomings, but this is definitely a superior product. This is definitely worth buying and Overall, a very good addition to your existing canister.

Dog owners have special needs when it comes to vacuum cleaners. And if you're reading this, I don't have to tell you that all vacuum cleaners are not created equal. If you want to show that pet hair who's boss once and for all, pick up one of these vacuum cleaners that are especially designed for families with dogs.
The Miele Cat and Dog TT 5000
This is a great vacuum, especially designed to pick up cat and dog hair. Its one of the few suction cleaners that actually accomplishes what the advertisements claim. It works really well on carpets, and it has a small turbo brush which means that you can pick up dog hair from enclosed spaces without having to move the furniture around. It's a canister vacuum which bugs some people, but it is surprisingly easy to move around. As a matter of fact, the only drawback to this efficient little vacuum is the dustbags. They're only 4.5 litres, and pretty expensive to replace. But, if you're a pet owner, you know that a vacuum that picks up all the dog hair on the first run is hard to find, making this puppy worth the investment. And, its one of the few HEPA certified vacuums making life a little easier for your guests with pet allergies. But its hard to get this vacuum in the US. So check out www.amazon.co.uk for ordering information.
The Dyson DC17
Dyson calls this particular model “The Animal”. This upright bagless is designed specifically to get at dog hair that is embedded in the carpet. You know, the stubborn kind that most vacuums don't get to until after the third or fourth pass. As a matter of fact, their favorite advertisement is running over dog hair with another vacuum and then following it with the DC17 so the audience can be astonished by the amount of dog hair and dirt that is left behind. And, the dust receptacle has a trigger release which means that you don't have to choke in the usually flurry of dust and dog fur that flies out of other vacuums when you're trying to get the container out. And better yet, it comes with a turbine brush cleaner to get the hair off of your dog's favorite chair. Waiting for the drawback? It's the price. This baby is around $600. If you're still reading this, check out www.dyson.com for more product and ordering information.
Hoover WindTunnel Electronic Bagless Canister Vacuum
Wow that's a long name. But this is one of my favorite vacuums, and it should help you get over your sticker shock. At around $200 (on www.amazon.com), this little canister vacuum gives you the best bang for your buck. The Hoover Wind Tunnel is known for it's aggressive beater bars that come with variable speed adjustments. This guy is great for people who have dogs, but don't want to shell out the big bucks. It comes with a brush attachment for cleaning upholstery and drapes and all the hard to get to places where dog hair likes to collect.
